Gussie Thibodeaux

Krotz Springs - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gussie Veillon Thibodeaux, age 89, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015, in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA. Rite of Committal will follow at the church cemetery. Reverend James Nguyen will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Thibodeaux, a native of Ville Platte, LA and current resident of Krotz Springs, LA, died on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System.

The love and unity of her family was first and foremost. She was "one of a kind" and was the true Matriarch of the Thibodeaux family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was well known for her "homemade bread". She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Gussie will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by son, Larry Thibodeaux and wife, Ellen, of Batchelor, LA; her daughter, Beverly Juneau and husband, Daniel, of Moody, Alabama; her daughters-in-law, Ann Thibodeaux and Anna Thibodeaux, both of Krotz Springs, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Pam Johnson and husband, Chris; Bobby Thibodeaux; Steve Thibodeaux and wife, Renee'; Jason Thibodeaux and wife, Kate; Dawn Mundt and husband, Karl; Crystal Carter and husband, Del; Dr. Candice Landry Rice and husband, Kevin and Sean Landry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "L.B." Leon Thibodeaux; her parents, Armand and Martha Pitre Veillon; her sons, Farriel Thibodeaux; Francis Thibodeaux; Joey Thibodeaux; her brothers, Hebert Veillon; Armos Veillon; her sisters, Rose Flennigan; Virgie Wyble and her grandson, Cody Sonnier.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Sunday, December 27, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening.

Pallbearers will be Sean Landry, Kevin Rice, Bobby Thibodeaux, Del Carter, Kyle Ray, Steve Thibodeaux and honorary pallbearers will be Harley Duplehcain, Jason Thibodeaux, Chris Johnson, Stephen Thibodeaux and Robbie Crow.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bayou Chateau Nursing Center in Simmesport for the love and care they gave their mother.
