Glenda Kay Gary

April 19, 1951 — August 16, 2024

Carencro

Glenda Kay Gary, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 16, 2024. Born on April 19, 1951, in Orange, Texas, Glenda was known for her vibrant personality as a true " people person" in her ministry service as a Jehovah’s Witness.

A visitation will be held on August 23, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Funeral services will also be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on August 23, 2024. Graveside services and interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas immediately after services.

She radiated kindness and generosity and spent much of her life surrounded by love. Glenda is survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard Gary, who was her steadfast partner through life's journey. Together, they raised a loving family that includes her daughters, Tammy Richard, Jamie Lafleur and significant other, Sonny Daigrepont, and Casey Hardy; along with her son-in-law, Dennis Hardy. Glenda's legacy continues through her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply: Chris Richard and his fiancé, Charlissa, Ben Richard, Ashlyn Richard, Cierra Richard, Jacob Lafleur, Caleb Nicholas, Dawson Hardy, and Braxton Hardy. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, including Cohen Richard, Kaison Thomas, Kruze Thomas, August Broussard, and Leilani Broussard; and her sister, Darlene Robin.

A devout Jehovah's Witness for over 50 years, Glenda’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her commitment to her beliefs and her community could be seen in her unwavering support for those around her. Glenda had a passion for reading and enjoyed dining out, often relishing moments spent sharing meals and conversations with family and friends. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including her love for her dogs, which only added to the warmth of her home.

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Lionel and Margaret Babineaux; her son, Rodney Lafleur; her son-in-law, Vincent "Coy" Richard; and her brother-in-law, Keith Robin. While her family grieves her passing, they will hold dear the memories and love she imparted throughout her life.

Glenda Kay Gary's legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed profoundly but remembered fondly by many.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Hardy, Dawson Hardy, Caleb Nicholas, Eric Robin, Sonny Daigrepont and Christopher Richard.
