Gladys Tate

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gladys Stout Tate at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Tate, age 92, who was born in Leonville, LA and was a lifelong resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Tuesday, September 02, 2014 at Opelousas General Health System.

Gladys was a homemaker who was deeply dedicated to her family and to her faith. She was a past religion teacher and member of a rosary group. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Richard Tate and wife Mary Beth and Robert Tate and wife Linda L. Tate all of Opelousas, LA daughter, Virginia T. Fontenot and husband Keith of Swords, LA brothers, George Stout and Harold Stout of Opelousas sister, Julia Mae Ardoin of Slidell grandchildren, Jacqueline Hensen and husband Roger, Dr. Rachael Tate Burnell and husband Dr. Michael Burnell, Dr. Jennifer Tate Brasseaux and husband Andre, Rebecca Richard and husband Tony, Amanda Tate Olivier and husband Jeremy, Ashley Tate Miller and husband Kenny, Robin Marie Tate, Nicole Fontenot Perry and husband Dr. Ryan Perry, and Emily Fontenot Gauthier and husband Charlie 24 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Honore Tate parents, Valrie and Julie Arceneaux Stout brothers, Jake Stout, Earl Stout, and Newton Stout sisters, Hilda Joubert, Elva Sonnier, and Joyce Dejean.

Pallbearers will be Roger Hensen, Dr. Michael Burnell, Tony Richard, Andre Brasseaux, Jeremy Olivier, Kenny Miller, Dr. Ryan Perry, and Charlie Gauthier.

Visiting will be held in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Wednesday, September, 3, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
