Gladys Hebert Dupont

Melville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys Hebert Dupont will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA.  Rev. Fr. Michael DeBlanc will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery in Melville.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville. The funeral home will re-open for visitation on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Gladys Hebert Dupont was born in Whiteville, LA, and was a longtime resident of Melville, LA.  She passed away at her home on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the age of 97 surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, and sister.  She was the caretaker of the home, a world class seamstress, and a talented woman who could do anything with a needle and thread, as well as using her crochet hooks.  Her children always had the latest style clothing with her talents.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and worked as a cook in the school cafeteria for many years.  She previously worked as a hostess at the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville.  As a pastime, she spent time outdoors fishing.   

Survivors include her son, Gene Dupont (Cindy); her daughters: Veronica “Connie” LeBlanc, Julie Aguillard (Jimmy), Traci Duvall (Mike), Teri Speyrer; two sisters, Jane Kinchen and Velma Edgens; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.      

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amet Dupont; her infant son, John Huey Dupont; her son-in-law, Clyde LeBlanc; her parents, Theodule Hebert and Dora Thibodeaux Hebert; and numerous siblings.
