Gilbert Ortego, Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial for Gilbert Gil Joseph Ortego, Jr. will be held on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at 12:00 noon at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Fr. Chanh Van Nguyen will celebrate the mass. The interment will follow at Denham Springs Cemetery in Denham Springs, LA.

Mr. Ortego, age 78, a resident of Krotz Springs, formerly of Denham Springs died Saturday February 4, 2012 at his residence. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife Anna Lee Soileau Ortego of Krotz Springs, sons Dennis Ortego of Woodstock, GA, Phillip Ortego and wife Chris of Wilmington, NC and David Ortego and wife Wendy of Walker, LA, daughters Peggy Ortego Andrews and husband Keith of Woodstock, GA and Cheryl Faye Ortego Barlow and husband John of Lexington, SC, step sons Jason Ortego and wife Cindy of Youngsville, K.C. Ortego and wife Terri of Grand Prairie and Glenn Ortego and wife Debbie of Opelousas, brothers Francis Ortego of Krotz Springs and Kirtley Ortego also of Krotz Springs, 10 grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his first wife Wilda Matte Ortego, parents Gilbert Ortego, Sr. and Weverly Soileau Ortego, son Gilbert Ortego, III, brother Leroy Ortego and a sister Joyce Elaine Ortego.

The family has requested the visitation be held on Monday February 6, 2012 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs and will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00am until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30pm on Monday evening.
