A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gilbert Billeaudeau at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will Celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Billeaudeau, age 91, a resident of Grand Prairie, La., died on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System.
Gilbert served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. He made three invasions including Sicily, North Africa and Omaha Beach on DDay. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors are his son, Donald Gerald Billeaudeau and wife, Sandy his daughters, Judy Ann B. Gary and husband, Harvey Charline Marie B. Thomas and husband, Jon and Jennifer Ann B. Norris and husband, Michael. He is also survived 12 grandchildren, 30 greatgrandchildren and 2 greatgreat grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Deville Billeaudeau his parents, Renus and Avana Ardoin Billeaudeau his sons, Gilbert Ray Billeaudeau, Kenneth Wayne Billeaudeau his brothers, Lee Billeaudeau, John Billeaudeau, Gladney Billeaudeau and his sister, Vernice Johnson.
Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
