Gervis Brown

Opelousas - Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 for Gervis Albert Brown in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. Father Austin Leger will officiate the service. Rite of committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gervis Albert Brown, age 92 and a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at his residence.

Gervis was a carpenter and built many houses in the Opelousas area for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the casino. Gervis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin Brown and his fiance', Phyllis Pitre of Opelousas and Marvin Jimmy Brown and his wife, Cynthia of Greenwell Springs; daughter, Carmen Posluszny and her husband, Barry of Lafayette; grandchildren, Bryan Brown, Amie Starks and David Brown; and great-grandchildren, Collin Starks, Caroline Starks, Addy Brown, Avery Brown, Luke Brown and Camille Rose Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Meche Brown; parents, Ernest and Clemence Brown; brothers, Bill Brown of Port Barre and Nathan Brown of Sunset; and sisters, Bertha Verret of Eunice and Brownie Marshall of Eunice.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Brown, David Brown, Kevin Brown, Marvin Jimmy Brown, Ernest Brown and Barry Meche.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Posluszny and Stephen Starks.
