Gertrude Carriere

Leonville A Mass of Christian Burial for Gertrude Meche Carriere, age 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, La. followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ken Domingue will conduct the mass.

Mrs. Carriere, a resident of Port Barre, La., died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Opelousas General Health System.

Gertrude will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Ricky J. Carriere and wife, Angela, of Opelousas, La. her daughter, Mary Beth Jimenez and husband, Milo, of Port Barre, La. and her sister, Mabel Guidry of Arnaudville, La. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Gerard Carriere Courtney Carriere Brennon Carriere and wife, Tiffani Chelsie Carriere Cody Carriere and wife, Casey Hope Jimenez 2 greatgranddaughters, Isabella Carriere and Lexi Carriere and a future greatgrandson, Roman Carriere.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Big John H. Carriere, Sr. sons, John Johnny Carriere Patrick Joseph Carriere her brothers, Herman Meche Deupe Meche and her sisters, Grace Guidry and Laurance Stelly.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on 8:00 a.m. on Friday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
