Geraldine Darbonne

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine Ledoux Darbonne, age 73, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas, La. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will conduct the Mass.

Mrs. Darbonne, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Opelousas General Health System.

Geraldine loved to cook, sew and crochet but her true love was her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Darbonne of Opelousas, La. her sons, Craig Darbonne and wife, Michele, of Port Barre, La. Sean Darbonne of Opelousas, La. her daughter, Kelly Cormier of Opelousas, La. her brother, Leander Ledoux of Eunice, La. and her sister, Bessie Leger of Nuba, La. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Nicholas Cormier, Blake Cormier, Brooke Cormier, Britni Darbonne, Lexi Darbonne, Sean Darbonne, Jr., London Darbonne, Kylie Darbonne and 4 greatgrandchildren, Madison Enos, Brayden Brown, Hayden Brown and Alivia Cormier.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Ida Fontenot Ledoux and her brother, Freeman Ledoux.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on 8:00 a.m. on Thursday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gillespie, Dr. Hargroder, Dr. Santiago, Dr. Cole and the nurses on the 3rd and 5th floors and the entire staff of Opelousas General Health System for their loving care and support. They would also like to send a special thank you to nurse Andrea.
