Washington A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gerald James Doucet, Sr., age 67, on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La. Reverend Albert Nunez will conduct the services.
Mr. Doucet, a resident of New Iberia, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at his residence.
Gerald was a longtime member and past president of the New Iberia Lions Club. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and he enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Rose David Doucet of New Iberia, La. his son, Gerald Doucet, Jr. and wife, Noel, of Palm City, Florida his daughter, Charlotte Blanda and husband, Dr. Louis Blanda, of Lafayette, La. his brothers, Delton Doucet of Liberty, Mississippi Nelson Doucet of New Iberia, La. Easton Doucet of Lafayette, La. his sisters, Celestine Smith of Opelousas and Mary Lou Williams of Waynesboro, Mississippi. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Brooks Boyer, Christen Boyer, Alexander Boyer, Bradley Cheatham, Brock Doucet, Cody Doucet, Brittany Doucet Tate and husband, David Courtney Doucet and six greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Mary Arnold Doucet and his brother, Preston Doucet.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, February 8, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 6:30 p.m.
