George Stelly

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for George Lee Stelly, age 78, will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.

Mr. Stelly, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Opelousas General Health System.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict where he received the Occupational Medal Germany. He was a member of the VFW Post 2483 and retired from the City of Opelousas as a park custodian. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Ricky Stelly and wife, Susan, of Lake Charles, La. his daughters, Darlene Speyrer and husband, William, of Leonville, La. JoAnn Stelly and husband, David, of Opelousas, La. Linda Corona and husband, Arthur, of Denton, Texas Vicky Guidroz of Leovnille, La. and his sister, Birdie Briley of Bellchase, La. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Eric Stelly, Joshua Corona, Ryan Stelly, Michael Corona, Keisha Speyrer, Scott Stelly, Krista Speyrer, Woody Guidroz, Jill Guidroz, Alexson Stelly and 3 greatgrandchildren: Aden Corona, J.J. Corona and Abby Speyrer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Richard Stelly his parents, Alexson and Delia Guidry Stelly and his brothers, Raymond, Perry and Lee Allen Stelly.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
