George Rogers

Palmetto - Funeral services for George William Rogers will be held at First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:00 am. Pastor Bob Fruen will conduct the funeral service.  Burial will be held in the Palmetto Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday at the First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge from 8:00am until time of service.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George William Rogers, age 81, of Palmetto, La.  He passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Opelousas General Health System.

George worked in the oil field for many years.  George’s faith was very important to him, and he enjoyed attending church.  He loved being outdoors, fishing, horseback riding and reading.   Family was very important to him, and he loved spending time with them.  George will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Verbie Lee Rogers; his sons, Chase Rogers, Brett Rogers, Ronnie Rogers and wife, Tammy and Kerry Rogers and wife, Rachel; his sister, Charlene Bergeron; his three grandchildren, Rashael Rogers, Elijah Rogers, Elianah Rogers and Liana Rogers and one great-grandchild, Zarynn Rogers.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Carrie Clark (Danny), Lynn Baham (Moe), Jessie Baham (Stephanie), Kevin Bergeron and Terry Bergeron.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lula Rogers; his great- grandchild, Silas Rogers; his sisters, Ernestine Krachner, Maxine Goutro and Earline Roy; his daughter-in-law, Susan Rogers and his brother-in-law, James Bergeron.
