Genevieve "Genny" Vasseur Bihm

Opelousas – Funeral services for Genevieve Vasseur Bihm will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  Pastor Benji Richard will conduct the service.

Visitation for Genevieve will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 2:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Genevieve Vasseur Bihm, age 56, of Prairie Ronde, La., who passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Genevieve, also known as Genny, was in the banking business for over 30 years.  She was a former vice-president of Teche Federal Bank in New Iberia, La. and a branch manager in Lafayette, La.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking for her loved ones.  She enjoyed spending time with her nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces and was lovingly known to her family as “Nanny Butterfly” because of her wonderful butterfly kisses.  Genevieve will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas James Bihm; her brother, Curtis Gene Vasseur, Jr. and her sister, Theresa Faye Vasseur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos James Bihm and her parents, Curtis Vasseur, Sr., and Leola Ortego Vasseur.
