Melville - A memorial service will be held for Geneva Savant at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville. Reverend Sam Ham will conduct the memorial service. Interment will be held at Melville Baptist Cemetery.

Ms. Savant, age 71, a resident of Melville, LA, died on Monday, April 13, 2015, at her residence.

Geneva will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Anthony Barker of Melville, LA; her daughter, Tammy Barker Beard of Melville, LA; her step-son, David Savant and wife, Cathy, of Livonia, LA and her sister, Carrie Duhon of Texas. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Ashley Beard, Kelly Payton, Jarrod Beard, Yancey Savant, Andrew Rouse, Hunter Savant, Mark Savant, Tiffany Savant, Sabrina Taylor, Kimberly Perkins and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Webster Savant; her parents, Della Fruge and Garland Hunter; her son, Mark Barker; her daughter, Carrie Cheri Savant; her brothers, John Hunter, Henry Hunter and her sisters, Bernice Moreau and Ethel Phillips.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville on Friday, May 8, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.
