Gary Sanderlin

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gary Anthony Sanderlin, age 58, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Sanderlin, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Gary was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as an Electronics Technician for many years. He enjoyed operating his HAM radio, flying his radio controlled airplanes, freshwater fishing and hunting. He also judged several KC Bar-B-Que competitions and won numerous awards for competing in the KC Bar-B-Ques. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carol Penouilh Sanderlin; his cousins, Jolly Siegel Guidry, Sylvia Siegel, Drew Siegel, Halbert Siegel, Harriet Siegel, Lois Siegel Lindsey, Judy Ventre, Shirley Edmond, Nell Ortego and Terry Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Siegel Sanderlin; his grandparents, Abe and Ida Siegel and his Aunt Dorothy Siegel.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Catholic Relief Services or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
