Garland Boudreaux

May 6, 1925 — July 7, 2012

Funeral services for Garland James Lou Boudreaux will be held on Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will conduct the services. The interment will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Mr. Boudreaux was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a loving father and devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marie, of 66 years, Garland J. Boudreaux passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his family at the age of 87. Known to his friends as TLou, he retired in 1985 from the state Alcohol Beverage Control Board. He and Marie had a wonderful time camping in their motor home, fishing and enjoying the camaraderie of all the new friends they met on their adventures. He always had a joke to tell and something cooking in the black iron pot, smelling and tasting great. He had an entrepreneurs sprit which led him into many different and successful ventures ranging from the wholesale supply business after WWII, to farming and ranching, to the first Dairy Pride in Arnaudville, to sausage making. To this day, people who had eaten his pure pork sausage say it was the best ever. He knew and was on a first name basis with all the governors of Louisiana from Huey Long through Mike Foster, and he could tell you some amazing and hilarious stories of their associations. He loved his sweet Marie, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more that life itself and always put family first. He was not just our dad who always provided the advice and support in whatever we chose to do, but he was also a great friend. We will forever remember and reminisce on the wonderful times we had together and will miss him dearly.

Survivors include his wife Marie Cary Boudreaux of Lewisburg, LA, sons Harry J. Boudreaux and wife Mary Jane of Baton Rouge, LA, Dennis Boudreaux of Hope Dale, LA, David G. Boudreaux and wife Julie of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter Kay Marie Zaunbrecher and husband Lester Jody of Lafayette, LA, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Eve Richard Boudreaux, brother Hilman J. Boudreaux and a grandson Alex Zaunbrecher.
