Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 for Freida Bordelon Mayeux at St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend Father James Brady will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Freida Bordelon Mayeux, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Mayeux finished high school at Sacred Heart in Ville Platte. She attended 2 years of college at the Academy of the Sacred Heart and U.S.L. She received her R.N. Nursing Degree from the Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She also was a retired co-owner of RM Fire Protection, Inc.
Freida, affectionately known as "Pie", had an infectious smile that brightened any room she walked in. She was very caring, compassionate and generous and helped anyone in need. Pie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Joseph P. Martinez, IV; daughters, Marie Martinez Dupre (Reggie), Judy Martinez Jenkins (Ronnie), Beverly Martinez Voloto (David) and Paula Martinez Mills (Mike); step-sons, Kelly Mayeux (Lynn) and Chris Mayeux (Becky); step-daughters, Rebecca Mayeux Lanning (Mike) and Ramona Mayeux Woodson (Terry); brother, Dr. Robert Luke Bordelon (Eugenia); sisters, Jeannie Ardoin (Jake) and Hazel "Pud" Fontenot (Buck); 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney F. Mayeux; parents, Fred Luke Bordelon and Marie Eloise Dupre Bordelon; sons, Kenneth R. Martinez and John Paul Martinez; and step-daughter, Jeannie Mayeux Tatman.
Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. by The Reverend Monsignor Paul Metrejean. Visitation will resume on Sunday July 1, 2018 in the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Dominic Dupre, Brad Jenkins, Jonathan Mills, Brett Mills, Reggie Dupre, David Voloto and Mike Mills.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as, her caregivers: Rose Manuel, Ester Jones, Mary Duriso and Terri Sylvester for their loving care.
