Frederick Kempf

November 9, 1912 — May 17, 2014

Mr. Kempf passed away at his residence on May 17th, 2014 at the age of 101 years. He was a generous benefactor to his family, freely sharing the fruits of his life as a selfmade man. He turned his apprenticeship to a cabinetmaker into a career of building custom furniture. He had a unique eye for design and color.

As a young man, he was adventurous, learning to fly and later serving in the Pacific in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon his return, he settled into family life in New Jersey. He later relocated to New Orleans where he made wise investments in real estate. After retirement, he briefly moved to Florida before settling with family in Opelousas.

He is preceded in death by his wife, of seventy years, Ruth Doty Jordan Kempf, his companion in life and adventure. They traveled extensively, enjoying a rich and long life.

He is survived by two sons, John Kempf and wife Pamela, Nicholas Kempf, four grandchildren Doty Kempf and partner Susan Ludwig, Ariel Kempf, Marisa and husband Joey Courville, Jordan and wife Lindsey, and four greatgrandchildren, Kinlee and Ruthie Kempf, Rayo Courville and Olivia Kempf.

The family warmly thanks the people who helped care for him during the past six months: Yolanda, Nicole, Iva, Kemo, and Corey.
