Frederick "Bob" Robert Bailey was born on March 1, 1923, in Washington, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, Louisiana.  

Visitation for Bob Bailey, age 101, will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the St. John’s Episcopal Church (Washington Garden Club Building) in Washington, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, Louisiana.  

Pallbearers will be: Jason Hazley, Daniel Westerman, Jonas Bailey, David Hanna, Brandon Pang, and Liam Hazley.

Bob was a dedicated and passionate individual. He will be remembered for his contributions to his community and his love for the outdoors. He devoted his career to serving as a surveyor for the Department of Transportation. In addition to his professional achievements, he proudly served as a veteran of the United States Coast Guard during World War II, demonstrating his bravery and patriotism.

Bob was a proud member of the American Legion Jasper Neyland Post in Washington, Louisiana, where he connected with fellow veterans. He was also honored to be the last surviving member of the St. John Episcopal Church in Washington, Louisiana, leaving behind a legacy of faith and community service. 

An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed taking long walks in the woods, a pastime that reflected his deep appreciation for nature. He especially enjoyed reminiscing about the history of the Town of Washington with others. 

He is survived by his loving niece, Evelyn B. Hanna and her husband, David; his nephew, Jonas W. Bailey and his wife, Mary; and his great-nieces: Mariah H. Hazley and her husband, Jason; Rebecca H. Westerman and her husband, Daniel; Jeanette H. Pang and her husband, Brandon and Rachael Bailey; as well as his great-nephew, Abram Bailey and his wife, Helen. Additionally, he leaves behind his great-great nephews, Liam Hazley, Felix Bailey, Flyn Bailey, and his great-great nieces, Harper Hazley, Margot Pang, Maisie Westerman, Julie Burrage, and Alice Bailey, and sister-in-law, Jeanette B. Bailey. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Lastrapes Bailey and Helen Blackwood Bailey; his brother, J.W. Bailey; and his infant siblings, Joseph Wesley Bailey and Helen Carrie Wentworth Bailey.
