Scott, LA - A memorial mass will be held Monday, August 25, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas for Frank Gabriel LeBleau, 66, who died Thursday at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Born in Opelousas, LA., Frank graduated from Opelousas High School in 1960. He attended McNeese State University before enlisting in the US Air Force.
Frank spent most of his adult life in Florida working in insurance and construction. His greatest joy was owning and operating LeBleaus Cajun Kitchen in Santa Rosa Beach with his wife, Mary. The restaurant was an ideal setting for his natural skills and talents. He served the Santa Rosa Beach area in many ways: as a volunteer firefighter, a civic advocate and a visionary leader. He was active in local politics. In his spare time, Frank pursued his hobbies of oil painting, creative writing and fishing.
He returned to Louisiana in 1994 and spent several years in retirement before beginning a new career as a cross-country truck driver. Frank traveled throughout the forty-eight states. His volunteer efforts continued as he became involved with the Foster Grandparent Program and as a student of the Upward Board Program at UL. He once again filled his life with new friends and experiences.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Mary Doherty LeBleau; two daughters, Lee Ann Ledlow and her husband, Bryan, of Destin, Fl.; Jennifer Adams and her husband, Steven, of Toronto, Canada; one son, Scott Douglas of Destin, Fl.; grandchildren, Meagan Pauline Quinn, Nicholas Frank Adams, Trevor John Adams, Chloe Joy Ledlow, and a grandson due in November; his dog, Sam; his three sisters, Dinah Laurich, Teeta Moss, Gwen LaFleur; three brothers, Floyd LeBleu, Wayne LeBleu, Paul LeBleu and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.G. and Billie LeBleu; his first wife, Joan Pauline Day; and his sister, Gladys J. LeBleu.
The family would like to thank the many health care professionals who were involved with his treatment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miles Perret Cancer Services. Friends and family may sign and view the online guestbook at www.lafondardoin.com.
Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
