Frank Jennings

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Frank Jennings, on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Jennings, age 91, was a resident of Opelousas, LA, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Frank was a veteran in the United States Army during WWII. During his service, he fought proudly and was wounded at the Battle of the Buldge and earned the distinguished Purple Heart Medal.

He was a great storyteller and loved to tell stories about WWII. Later in his life enjoyed writing and became the author of "Bull Gumbo for the Soul". Frank will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons, Terry Jennings and wife Rhonda of Carencro, LA; Donny Jennings of Opelousas, LA; his daughters, Sandra Landry and husband Elton of Opelousas, LA; Paula Trahan and husband Tom of Rayne, LA and Marla Thibodeaux of Rayne, LA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Robin Jennings; his parents, John and Bessie Roy Jennings; his son, John Anthony Jennings, his sisters, Anna Mae Hollier, Cora Dekerlegand, Ethel Emonet, Evelyn McCormick, his brother, Ralph Jennings and his daughter-in-law, Debra "Sue" Jennings.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Joey Landry, Blaine Jennings, Brett Trahan, Jaime Thibodeaux, Josh Thibodeaux, John Jennings and Donny "Toby" Jennings.
