Frank Joseph Guidroz, Jr.

The family is requesting that visitation be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, La. A Rosary will be prayed by Sister Uyen Vu at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Guidroz, age 70, a resident of Opelousas, La., passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital in Lafayette, La.

Frank served his country proudly as a veteran in the United States Marine Corps.  He loved spending time fishing at Toledo Bend.  He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family, friends and his constant companion, Ellie Mae. 

Frank played an essential part in the establishment of the 911 system in St Landry Parish. He supervised the first addressing team in 1994 and continued to maintain the 911 addressing and mapping systems for 26 years until his retirement in 2020. Although his main focus was addressing and mapping, his concern was always for improving 911 operations. Frank’s support and guidance for his coworkers will always be fondly remembered.

Frank gave of himself even after death, as a donor to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.  He was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patty Bourque Guidroz; his sons, Jared Guidroz and wife, Brooke and Cody Manuel; his daughter, Samantha Fontenot and husband, Chase; his brother Bobby Guidroz and wife, Karen; his sisters, Cynthia Leger and husband, Sonny and Becky Mayeux and husband, Chris and his mother-in-law, Bernadine Bourque.  He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Nicholas Higdon, Victoria Higdon, Gabrielle Guidroz, Everett Fontenot and Nora Kate Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Guidroz, Sr. and Anna Fisette Guidroz and his father-in-law, Matherne (Mutt) Bourque.

Pallbearers will be Jared Guidroz, Cody Manuel, Chase Fontenot, Collins Lanclos, Jr. and Bobby Guidroz.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and doctors at the Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital in Lafayette, La. for the exceptional care and support that was given to Frank.
