Services for Mrs. Burke Reed, the former Joan Frances Richard Reed, will be held on Monday, at 10:00 a.m., January 5, 2009, at St. Landry Catholic Church with the interment in Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Robert Romero will conduct the services.
Mrs. Reed, age 80, a resident of Opelousas, passed away at her residence on Friday, January 2, 2009. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great sense of humor and was an avid sports fan.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. W.J. Briley and Kim Davis, to her caregivers: Karen Thibodeaux, Mary Semien, Lillie Thomas and the caregivers at St. Landry Home Health and La. Hospice and Palliative Care.
She is survived by 3 sons: Rob Reed and his wife Alicia Ryder Reed of Grand Prairie, Richard Dickie Reed and his wife Suzanne Dartez Reed of Lafayette and Kenny Reed and his wife Bertha Budden Reed of Opelousas. Her daughter: Patsy Reed Fontenot and her husband Bill of Grand Prairie, 1 sister: Yola Mae Sis Richard, 3 Sisters-in-law: Versie Richard of Opelousas, Jackie Richard of Opelousas and Peggy Reed Buller and her husband Dr. William Buller of Ville Platte. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Ryan Reed and his wife Amber, Chris Reed, Kevin Reed, Natalie Dugas and her husband Ryan, Mia F. Hundley and her husband Steven, Jared Fontenot, Lori F. Trahan and her husband Nick and Luke Reed, 2 great grandchildren: Parker Reed and Brodie Dugas.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband; Burke Reed, her parents; Leonce and Agnes Richard, 2 brothers: Aaron Richard and Charles Richard and a sister: Dorothy Dot Fadaol.
The pallbearers will be: Ryan Reed, Jared Fontenot, Kevin Reed, Steven Hundley, Bill Buller and David Richard. The readers will be: Myra Buller and Mia Hundley, the Presenters will be; Chris Reed, Lori Trahan and Natalie Dugas. The music selection will be provided by Sharee Hunter.
The family has requested that visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00PM to 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 7:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. If you wish to sign the online register, you may go to: www.lafondardoin.com.
