Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial for Floyd Soileau, age 88, will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 followed by interment in the Resurrection Cemetery in Whiteville, La. Father Mike Guidry will officiate the services.brbrMr. Soileau who was a resident of Whiteville, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas, La.brbrMr. Soileau was a farmer and a retired St. Landry Parish Sheriffs Deputy as a jailer after seventeen years of service. brbrSurvivors include his wife, Vernice Soileau of Whiteville, La.; his sons, Nolton Soileau and wife, Ann, of Anderson, South Carolina; Gerald Soileau and wife, Shirley, of Arnaudville, La.; Michael Soileau of Whiteville, La.; his daughter, Diane Courville and husband, Adam, of Washington, La.; his brothers, Hosea Soileau of Gretna, La.; James B. Soileau of Lafayette, La.; his sisters, Eula Mae Chapman of Ville Platte, La. and Ellen Guidry of Marrero, La. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.brbrHe was preceded in death by his parents Hoseau and Amy Soileau and his brothers, Calvin Soileau and Atwood Soileau.brbrVisiting hours will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas starting on Friday, January 1, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00 am. on Saturday, January 2, 2010.
