Floyd Harrington

Krotz Springs Funeral services will be held for Floyd James B. Harrington at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014, in the First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs, La. The Reverend Chad Bolfa will conduct the service. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.

Mr. Harrington, age 84, a resident of Butte La Rose, La., died on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at his residence.

Floyd served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific from January 10, 1947 to January 17, 1950. While in the Navy he earned the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He then joined the U. S. Army from September 15, 1950 to September 14, 1953 and earned the 1st Clasp Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After returning from service he worked as a construction worker and a commercial fisherman. He belonged to the Carpenters Union of Baton Rouge. Floyd will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Dann Harrington, of Butte La Rose, La. his son, James Jimmy Harrington and wife, Karen, of Woodard, Oklahoma his daughters, Deborah Leblanc and husband, Guy, of Butte La Rose, La. Marion Irene Capron widow of Timothy Capron of Copperas Cove, Texas and Alzada Harrington and fianc, Russell Melancon of Butte La Rose, La. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Breaux adoptive parents, Gabe and Irene Harrington his brothers, Charles Breaux, Sidney Breaux, Freddie Breaux, Sr., Jimmy Robertson and his sister, Charlean Leblanc.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until service time.
