Florence Meche

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Clarence Meche, the former Florence Flo Bourgeois, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA with Reverend Paul Bienvenu as the Celebrant.

Mrs. Meche, age 85, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at her residence.

Flo and her husband, Clarence, owned and operated Meches Grocery and Meat Market for 70 years. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Meche, of Opelousas, LA her sister, Batilda Vigil and her husband, Gilbert, of Lawtell, LA four grandchildren, Jared Soileau and wife, Kathi, Nicole Soileau, Olivia Soileau, Zachary Soileau and three greatgrandchildren, Morgan, Madison and McKayla Soileau and their mother, Ashley Barton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Meche her parents, Adam and Elia dAVille Bourgeois her son, Kenneth Meche, her sister, Nadine Savoy, her brothers, Rieley Bourgeois Floyd Bourgeois, Donald Bourgeois and Calvin Bourgeois.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on

Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
