Florence Dupre, a beloved matriarch and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 9, 2024, just one day short of her 72nd birthday. She was born on December 10, 1952.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Florence at St. Landry Catholic Church on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM celebrated by Father Neil Pettit, followed by the Rite of Committal and Burial at Bellevue Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, with a Rosary being recited that evening at 6:00 PM by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will continue Friday, December 13, 2024, from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Lalonde, Scott Sittig, Aaron Miller, James Lalonde, Gavin Franks and Jonathan Sittig. The honorary pallbearer will be Brad Dupre.
Florence devoted 30 years of her life to the Prairie Ronde Water System, where her steadfast commitment made a lasting impact. She also sold Parklane Jewelry and home interior items, which was her true passion.
Florence was known for her many hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She had a passion for crocheting and crafting and as an avid reader, she found solace in the pages of books. Above all, Florence cherished her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, creating special memories.
Florence is survived by her son, Joseph Brad Dupre, of Prairie Ronde; her daughters, Elizabeth Miller and husband, Patrick, Mona Franks and husband, Daniel, Sherry Pommier and husband, Mike; her brother, Ricky Lalonde and wife, Jackie; her sisters, Ethel "Tete" Latiolais, Jane Artigue and her husband, Harris, Nell Begneaux and her husband, Carroll, and Shirley Quebedeaux and her husband, James. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Roy Sittig, and her Godchildren, Terry Begneaux and Scott Sittig, along with a host of numerous other dear family members and friends. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren—Aaron Miller, Victoria Miller, Gavin Franks, Madeline Franks Freeman and her husband, Steven, Shelbie David and her husband, Bryce, Blake Dupre, Bryce Dupre, Sierra Morris, Olivia Buller, Isaac Buller, Hannah Pommier, and Bentley Pommier—and her 16 great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Lalonde and Lola Angelle Lalonde; her husband, Mr. Joseph C. Dupre; her brother, Curtis Lalonde; and her sister, Wanda Sittig.
Florence will be remembered for her warm spirit, unwavering strength, and the love she shared with all those around her. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who were fortunate to have known her.
