Fay Fontenot

June 19, 1927 — March 16, 2010

A Mass of Christian Burial for Fay Devillier Fontenot, age 82, will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.

Mrs. Fontenot was born in Port Arthur, Texas and was a longtime resident of Washington and Ventress. She died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Point Coupee Healthcare in New Roads, La. She was retired from the A.S.C.S. USDA after 27 years was a U.S. Army Nurse Cadet at LSU she served as President of the Point Coupee Homemakers Council and was president of the Hunter Fabre Unit 248 of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jules C. Fontenot, of Ventress her daughter, Riki Dewey of Conroe, Texas her brothers, Vernon Peanut Devillier of Ventress, La. Larry Devillier and wife, Cindy, of Colorado Louis Boosie Devillier and wife, Wendy, of Opelousas, La. her sisters, Vera Broussard and husband, Curley, of Welsh, La. Jackie Hargroder and husband, Johnny, of Port Barre, La. and her grandchildren, Laurie Marek and husband, Chad, of Spring, Texas Aimee Witherspoon of Spring, Texas Michael Dewey and wife, Jillian, of Frisco, Texas and four greatgrandchildren, Elise Marek Noelle Marek, William Witherspoon and Abby Witherspoon all of Spring, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cless and Ophelia Valin Devillier soninlaw, Pat Dewey brothers, Joseph Bubby Devillier, Clayton Devillier sisters, Lois Bellard and Fern Devillier.

Visitation will be held in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be: Michael Dewey, Chad Marek, Andre Bellard, Jim Thomassee, Scott Devillier and Chris Devillier. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers and nephews.
