Fabian Martinez, Jr.

Fabian Lawrence Larry Martinez Jr., age 72, of Por t Barre, formerly of Baton Rouge, died Thursday evening, Aug. 13, at Opelousas General Hospital. Martinez was a graduate of Catholic High School, L.S.U. and he was a U.S. Army veteran. He also served as a former vice president at American Bank.

Martinez is survived by a sister, Patricia Martinez Tessier of Baton Rouge, and nieces and nephews, Shivaun Tessier Davis, Tara Tessier, Jeff Tessier Jr. and Robert Tessier, all of Baton Rouge, and Michael Scully of Clyde, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lily Callaghan and Fabian L. Martinez, Sr. of Baton Rouge; a sister, Faye Martinez Scully of Atlanta, and a niece, Melanie Tessier Moore of Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Front Street in Krotz Springs. The funeral service and mass will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 225 Eighth Ave., in Krotz Springs. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge.

Pallbearers will be Percy Menard, Randy Davis, Joey Davis, Michael Moore, Jeff Tessier and Robert Tessier.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs or charity of your choice. Special thanks to the physicians and staff of Opelousas General Hospital ICU.
