Opelousas In loving memory, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Evelyn McCormick at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal will be held at the St. Francis Regis Church Cemetery in Arnaudville, LA.

He who owns a garden, however small it be, whose hands have planted in it flower or bush or tree he who watches patiently the growth from nurtured, who thrills a newly opened bloom, is very close to God.

Evelyn Jennings Stelly McCormick, at the age of 90, passed away quietly on November 22, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 20, 1924 in Opelousas, Louisiana, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Bessie Roy Jennings and John Jennings as well as her siblings Clem Arceneaux, Anna Hollier, Cora Dekerlegand, Ethel Lee Emonet, and Ralph Jennings. She was also preceded in death by first husband, Howard Stelly her second husband, L. J. Dupuy and her third husband, Edward McCormick.

She is survived by her brother Frank Jennings. She was the devoted mother to children James Barry Stelly and Linda and Norman Shiflett. She is remembered with love by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, November 24, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 until time of service.
