Evelyn Lafleur

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Evelyn Bertinot Lafleur at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Most Reverend Bishop Michael Jarrell will celebrate the Mass and the Reverend Gregory Simien will concelebrate.

Evelyn Lafleur, age 71, who was a native of Opelousas, LA and a resident of Palmetto, LA, died on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas, LA.

Evelyn was a busy homemaker who raised six children. She cherished the time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Eugene "Sonny" Lafleur of Palmetto, LA; sons, Andrew Lafleur of Palmetto, LA and Timothy Lafleur and wife Denise of Opelousas, LA; daughters, Karen Lafleur Jenkins of Ocean Springs, MS, Susan Lafleur Ledoux and husband Todd of Opelousas, LA, Nancy Lafleur Marks and husband Paul of Opelousas, LA and Kathleen Lafleur of Palmetto, LA; sister, Barbara Bertinot Scanlon and husband Mike; sister-in-law, Loraine C. Bertrand; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Jules "A.J" Bertinot and Gladys Boudreau Bertinot; brother, Neil Bertinot and sister, Lucille Bertinot Veltin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and the Opelousas General Health System South Campus, LTAC Unit.

Visiting will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m.
