Opelousas - Funeral services for Eva "Juanell" Martin Stagg will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Perry Hubbs, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas, will conduct the service. A private family burial will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery in Richard, LA.
Mrs. Stagg, age 77, a resident of Port Barre, LA, died on Sunday, December 25, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Eva received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from LSU and was a school teacher for more than 30 years. Over the course of her teaching career, Eva taught History, Social Studies and Geography at Eunice High School and Port Barre High School. She enjoyed reading, photography and creating photo albums of her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy Stagg of Port Barre, LA; her sons, Steve Stagg and wife, Bridget of Port Barre, LA; Barry Stagg and wife, Kim, of Acworth, GA and her brother, George Martin. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Rebecca Stagg, Stephanie Stagg, John Stagg, Luke Stagg; two step-grandchildren, Lindsey Cutchall, Grace Mire and her honorary grandchild, Anne Melancon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Attie Bell Bishop Martin and her brother, Kenneth Martin.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Eva's name.
