Eva went to be the Lord peacefully at the age of eighty-three surrounded by her loved ones on July 30, 2024.

Eva was a person who held a few different titles through the years of her wonderful life, from being a certified nurse assistant, to being a truck driver. Driving trucks was her favorite title of all of them. Eva was proud to drive big rig trucks with her beloved husband, Jerry Grimes. Eva was known by her C.B. handle “Bandanna”.

Eva was a beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma and aunt. She enjoyed Wayne’s cooking, as well as the simple things in life from fishing to snuggling her cat Gizmo; along with playing Pokeno with her friends and family. Eva loved spending time with her family and playing Uno with her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She had a wonderful giving heart with a bit of spunk to herself, and loved to “FOUILLER” throughout the house. Eva will forever be loved and missed.

Survivors include her two sons, Wayne LeJeune and John Lejeune; her two grandchildren, April Abshire and her husband, Michael Abshire and Morgan Lejeune and three great-grandchildren, Hayes Mroczkowski, Cassi Abshire and Colt Abshire along with her bonus granddaughter, Mandy Coussan.

Eva was preceded in death by her two husbands, Elgin Joseph Lejeune and Jerry Don Grimes; one son, Elgin James Lejeune; her parents, Heribert Bernard and Adele Stelly Bernard; her brothers, Leroy Bernard, Jospeh Bernard, Lawrence Bernard, Murphy Bernard and Yves Bernard; her sisters, Rita Venable, Elaine Marks, Blanch Lyons and Cecil “Bud” Henderson, her companion and fishing buddy.

The pallbearers will be Wayne LeJeune, Michael Abshire, Hayes Mroczkowski, Morgan Lejeune, Gary Venable and Jude Bernard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cassi Abshire, Colt Abshire and Todd Bernard.

Wayne would also like to thank all the staff at Heart of Hospice and Cindy Hancock for all the care and compassion they showed Ms. Eva and the family during this difficult time. Also, Wayne would like to thank Michael and April for opening their home for maw-maw to make her final journey in the arms of her loving savior. Also, we would like to thank Jennifer Bernard for the dedication she provided for Nanny’s comfort and well-being.
