Eula Chautin Ortego also known as Grandmom and EuEu died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on February 6, 2012. She was 78 years old. Mrs. Ortego was married to John Lawerence Ortego for 47 years. Together they raised 5 children and were blessed with 16 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. Her children know that their Moms joy was Sunday dinners at her house and summer vacations at Sam Houston State Park. Her love of family, her strength and character, and her deep love of her friend Jesus are her legacy to all who loved her. And to her children, Mrs. Ortego left 2 decades of journals, recordings of day to day life and her thoughts and feelings on family, faith, love, and loss on this side of heaven.
Her husband John Lawerence Ortego, one grandson Travis Benjamin Ortego, her parents Clebert Chautin and Josie Myer Chautin, and her sister Josie Anna precede her in death.
She is survived by 4 sisters, Mae Chautin, Bea Grimmett, Emma Ardoin, Odile Ardoin and one brother Joseph Sonny Chautin. Here children are Peggy Carroll and her husband Elbon Booney, Donna Carriere and her husband Nathan, Cindy Ortego and her husband Jason, Clay Ortego and his wife Stephanie and Brad Ortego and his wife Mary Alice.
