Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel Prudhomme Trahan will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Ethel, age 85, a resident of Lawtell, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Opelousas General Health System after an extended illness. She was born on November 16, 1929.
"Miss" Ethel as many people knew her, enjoyed working with the public as a sales clerk for J.B. Abdalla's and Thib's Fashions for thirty years. She tried her best to outfit customers in flattering apparel. Her favorite hobby was visiting friends and family. Every event, including birthdays and holidays was a celebration. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her delicious meals with others.
She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Ledoux and husband, Dwight of Opelousas, Glenna Little and husband, Richard of Metairie; her two sons, Floyd A. Trahan, Jr. and wife, Lynette of Colorado Springs, CO, Johnathan Trahan of Lawtell; her sister, Merza Guillory of Eunice. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Floyd A. Trahan, Sr.; her parents, Michelle and Armide Janice Prudhomme; her brother, Aaron Prudhomme and her grandson, Shane Christian Ledoux.
The family has requested visitation be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Ledoux, Richard Little, Floyd A. Trahan, Jr., Seth Kelly, Andrea Fremiotti and Johnathon T. Trahan. Readers will be Christine Ledoux and Merza Guillory.
The family gives thanks and appreciation to Central Home Health employees and to her son, Jonathon for his many years of devotion to her and her care as well as Angel Castille. We also thank Heritage Manor of Opelousas and a special thanks to Opelousas General ICU nurse, Sandy Soileau, who truly cared for Ethel in her last two days of life.
