Essie Huckaby

A Mass of Christian Burial for Essie Mae Huckaby will be held on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at 10:00am at LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. The interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Paul Metrejean will celebrate the mass.

Mrs. Huckaby, age 89, a resident of Opelousas and a homemaker, died Saturday August 6, 2011 at her residence.

She is survived by her son: Robert Bobby Huckaby of Vallejo, CA, a daughter Deborah Ann Landry and husband Bill of Natchitoches, LA, seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband Leon Huckaby, parents Edwin and Nita Vellion Danel and a daughter Sandra Higginbotham.

The family has requested the visitation be held on Monday August 8, 2011 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00am. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00pm.
