Ervin Thibodeaux

Funeral services will be held for Ervin Thibodeaux at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in the Julius J. "Skip" Montet Chapel at La-Fond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  Reverend Austin Leger will conduct the service.  Burial will follow at St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery in Richard, LA.

Mr. Thibodeaux, age 88, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Ervin proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He retired 1996 from UL where he was an engineer at Lafayette Bowling Lanes.  After he retired, he became an avid cattleman.  He loved Cajun and country western music and he and his wife were very active dancers and loved attending area festivals.  He also loved his boat and was often found on the weekends on the water with his wife, Laura, fishing.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Laura Greco Thibodeaux of Opelousas, LA; his sons, Robert Thibodeaux (Vicki); Donald Thibodeaux (Lynn), Craig Thibodeaux (Dana); his daughters, Sheryl Stansbury (John), Janet Barron (Travis), Janice Thibodeaux and his sisters, Inez Thibodeaux and Juanita Quebedeaux.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marylene Blanchard Thibodeaux; his parents, Clevens and Ludie LeJeune Thibodeaux; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Naomi Fitzgerald Greco.; his step-sons, Terry and Wayne Dupre; his brothers, Willis Thibodeaux, Elwood Thibodeaux, Jimmy Ray Thibodeaux and his sister, Geraldine Thibodeaux.

Visitation will be held in the Skip Montet Chapel in LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Tuesday evening by Reverend Austin Leger.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
