Ernestine "Tina" Mengarelli

Krotz Springs –Ernestine Marie Mengarelli, affectionately known as "Tina," passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born on February 23, 1967, in Opelousas, Louisiana, and was a native of Krotz Springs.  

Tina dedicated many years of her life to helping others as a nurse. She had a deep passion for caring for people and found great joy in making a positive impact on their lives. Her nurturing spirit and compassionate nature touched the hearts of countless patients.

In her later years, Tina found solace and happiness in various hobbies. She loved creating beautiful crafts, exploring her culinary skills in the kitchen, and transforming her home into a haven of warmth and elegance through her keen decorating abilities. These creative endeavors allowed Tina to express herself and brought immense joy to her life.

Tina's memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She leaves behind not only wonderful memories but also a legacy of love, kindness, and gentleness.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home located at 239 8th Ave in Krotz Springs, Louisiana, on Friday, September 8th, 2023.  A Rosary service will be held at 6:30 PM on Friday evening in the funeral home.  Visitation will continue from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in the Lafond Ardoin funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church (located at 225 8th Ave in Krotz Springs, LA). Rev. Fr. Henry Antony will celebrate the Mass.

Tina is survived by her loving fiancé, Michael Orona of Baton Rouge and his mother, Susan Lindig of Baton Rouge; two brothers: Steve Mengarelli and wife, Kimberly of Baton Rouge; and Terry Mengarelli of Sunset; and her nieces and nephews: Joshua Mengarelli and wife, Genee; Bria Majors and husband, Anthony; Gabriel Mengarelli; Samuel Mengarelli; Katie M. Trahan and husband, Jason; Shelbi Mengarelli; Sophia Mengarelli; and Zachary Mengarelli. She also leaves behind her most loyal companion, "Lucy Pup." Tina's vibrant spirit and nurturing presence will be dearly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley Mengarelli, Jr., and Elaine Ducote Mengarelli; her sister-in-law, Lynette Artall Mengarelli; her paternal grandparents, Charley Mengarelli, Sr., and Mary Alvatroni Mengarelli; and her maternal grandparents, Elmer Ducote and Mamie Frederick Ducote.

In addition to her immediate family, Tina leaves a host of cousins, dear friends, and loved ones who were touched by her warm personality, unwavering kindness, and genuine care.

Tina was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests a memorial dedication to be made in Tina's memory.
