Ernest Meche

Opelousas Services for Ernest Meche, age 76, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Deacon Ulysse Joubert will conduct the service.

Mr. Meche, who was a resident of Opelousas, La., died at 3:49 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Opelousas General Health System.

Ernest worked in the oil field for 30 years. He retired as an engineer from the Brickey Stones Boat Company in Memphis, Tennessee. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved himher.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Comeaux Meche, of Opelousas, La. his daughters, Sandra LeBlanc and husband, Paul, of Opelousas, La. Sara Penland of Opelousas, La. his two brothers, Whitney Meche of Jennings, La. Clifford Meche of Duson, La. and one sister, Vernice Simon of Beaumont, Texas. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Daniel and Danielle Penland and his greatgrandson, Jamison Phillips.

He was preceded in death by parents, Oneal and Lorena Royer Meche two sisters, Winnie Landry and Odess Meche and one brother, Wedess Meche.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
