Emmett Ledoux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Emmett Ledoux, age 98, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Ledoux was a native and resident of Opelousas. He died at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Opelousas General Health System.

He was a past member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and of the Louisiana Cattlemans Association.

On December 15, 1937, Emmett Ledoux wed Louise Harvey at the St. John Catholic Church in Melville, LA. Mr. Ledoux was a devoted husband and father who loved his home, family, business and his church. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Louise Harvey Ledoux daughter, Glenda L. Shaw of Lafayette a sister, Marie Ledoux of Opelousas three granddaughters, Paulette Marie Olivier of St. Martinville, Leah Reed Duplechain of Opelousas and Erin Reed Monica of Opelousas eleven great grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Soileau, Katie Soileau, Emily Soileau, Brittany Guidroz, Kery Guidroz, Lindsay Guidroz, Courtney Taylor, Elizabeth Duplechain, Ann Marie Duplechain, Joseph Anthony Tripp Monica, III, and Avery Monica.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Boudreaux Ledoux and Helena Chris Ledoux a daughter, Barbara L. Reed brothers, Layton, Otis, and Harris Ledoux sisters, Clara L. Pitre, Wilda L. Lafleur and Mattie L. Fakouri and a granddaughter, Pippa Lynn Fann.

Visiting hours will be observed at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas from 2:00 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
