Emma Lou was a kind and gentle spirit, who dearly loved her family, beautiful flowers, and all animals. She held many roles in her lifetime, and managed to excel at all of them. She was a high school valedictorian, a talented seamstress, cook, and gardener; and, she worked more than twenty years as an original and trusted employee of Wilson's Wholesale. But her favorite role was as beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Survivors include son Philip Moory, II, of Opelousas and Arnaudville, and daughter Connie M. Roberts and husband Elliott C. Roberts, Sr. of Covington, her dear friend Heda ‘Ella' Kidder, 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Perry Anthony Moory, parents Marshall J. Doucet and Edna Vidrine Doucet, daughter Marlene M. Marmande and her husband William A. Marmande, M.D., siblings Quentin J. Doucet, James "J.C." Doucet, Maebress D. Stanton, and Charles Roy "Choo Choo" Doucet, and granddaughters Maria Marcelle Marmande and Melanie Louise Mills.
Emma Lou found beauty in the simple things in life and she treated everyone with respect. We learned many valuable lessons from her during her 98 years, among them: never throw away newspaper, plastic bags, foil pans, or anything really. Just clean that stuff up and use it as insulation, or to hold a beautiful Louisiana iris planting dug up from a road-side ditch, or to carry food to a friend or neighbor. If you are hard of hearing, embrace the peace, and smile - people will be intrigued. If your new teeth don't feel good, take those babies out. And if you have trouble remembering a name, ‘Ella' is a fine name to choose. In her honor, we will sit and visit with loved ones longer, pet as many dogs as we see, and perhaps on occasion, enjoy a sip of beer. Godspeed to a lovely angel. We love you so.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, William A. Marmande, Jr., Ed Marmande, Christopher J. Marmande, Patrick Marmande, Mitchell J. Marmande, Reverend Gene Mills, Dr. Chris Leblanc and Philip L. Leblanc.
