Emery Fontenot

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Emery Joseph Fontenot at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend Ken Domingue will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Fontenot, age 77, died on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at John Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville.

Emery enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and was a friend to everyone he would meet. Emery will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Norma Jean Fontenot, of Leonville, LA his daughters, Debrah Lambert of Ethel, LA Ledia Fontenot of Port Barre, LA Darlene Hoffman of Zachary, LA his sons, Vernal Fontenot of Leonville, LA Kenneth Fontenot of Opelousas, LA Ricky Fontenot of Port Barre, LA James Ray Hoover of Baton Rouge, LA and his brothers, Allen Fontenot of Arnaudville, LA and Leroy Fontenot of Sunset, LA. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 30 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcidus and Armina Guillory Fontenot his brothers, Jules Fontenot, Mayance Dupre and his sister, Emma Lou Guillory.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, October 6, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ray Fontenot, Vernal Fontenot, Ricky Fontenot, Jeremy Fontenot, Kenneth Fontenot, John Richard, Kenneth Lee Hoffman and Jamie Lambert.
