Elvin Richard, Jr.

Opelousas Services will be held for Elvin Inky Joseph Richard, Jr., age 60, on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Courtableau Baptist Church in Port Barre, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Brother Shelby Andre will conduct the services.

Mr. Richard, a resident of Port Barre, La., passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 12:45 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Elvin was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, an avid fisherman and hunter. He believed in family and he loved getting together and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Andre Richard his daughters, Mary Beth Ramoin and husband, Jordie, of Port Barre Cindy Higginbotham and husband, Glenn, of Charleston, Arkansas his stepsons, Joey Thompson and his wife, Lucy, of Livonia, La. and Jamie Thompson and wife, Sophie, of Livonia, La. his brothers, William Saul Richard and wife, Denise, of Opelousas Charles Preston Richard and wife, Tammy, of Opelousas John Ray Richard and wife, Patricia, of Clarksville, TN his sisters, Leona Marie Burleson and husband, George, of Kiln, MS Rebecca Jane Duewerth and husband, Robert, of Plainfield, Illinois Betty Ann Dyson and husband, Ricky, of Crosby, Texas Patricia Diane Bernard and husband, Pat, of Pearland, Texas. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Terry Leger, Ashley Leger, Dylan Leger, Madeline Robin, Brandon Robin, Olivia Robin, Own Thompson and Victoria Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin Joseph Pooney Richard, Sr. and Helen Laverne Folds Richard and his dog, Little Bit.

Pallbearers will be William Richard, John Ray Richard, Dale Clavier, Gus Tujague, Kenny Richard, David Baham and the honorary pallbearer will be, Terry Leger.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Courtableau Baptist Church in Port Barre, La. on Friday, January 29, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 until time of service.
