Opelousas - Funeral services for Elvin J. Leger, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service. Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Leger, age 79, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Emma Jean Leger; his sons, Elvin J. Leger, Jr. and Donald James Leger; his daughters, Annette L. Amy and husband, Mark; Lisa L. Stevens and husband, Mark; Christine L. Porche and husband, Lester; Charlotte L. Ardoin and husband, Robert; Patricia L. Deville and husband, Keith; his brothers, Merrick Leger and wife, Janelle; Darius Leger, Jr. and wife, Virginia and his sister, Marie Chautin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Pitre, Jamie Lyons, Harold Stanbury, Jr., Anthony Stevens, Brandon Stevens, Robert J. Ardoin, Jr., Alvin Bergeron, III, Ashley Smith, Mona Leger, Jani Porche, Dillon Porche, Toby K. Deville and Kaleb M. Deville and his great-grandchildren, Sara Prudhomme, Baily Prudhomme, Zaden Muir, Vagen Muir, Amair Porche, Hunter Smith, Layla Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Zane Lyons, Lilly Porche, Haylin Porche, Aiden Pitre, Kenyon Boyd, Makenzi Jenkins, Brayden Landry, Makayla Bergeron, Mason Bergeron, Maverick Bergeron, Koby Leger, Kallie Miller and Michael Miller, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darius Leger and Lucille Stelly Leger; his brothers, Russell Leger and Warren Leger; his sisters, Geraldine L. Moreau and Earline L. Courville; his brothers-in-law, John Chautin and Jessie Moreau and his grandsons, Elvin Randel and Randy Randel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 11:00 AM (open all night) until time of service on Saturday, March 30, 2019. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Stevens, Brandon Stevens, Keith Deville, Alvin Bergeron, III, Toby Deville, Kaleb Deville and Robert Ardoin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Porche, Lester Porche, Mark Amy, Mark Stevens and Baily Prudhomme.
