Eloise Lafleur

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Eloise Briley Roberie Lafleur at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Grand Prairie. Rite of Committal will be held in the church cemetery. Reverend Travis Abadie will officiate the service.

Mrs. Lafleur, age, 89, a resident of Lafayette, LA, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Eloise was born and raised on a farm near Washington, LA. She graduated from Washington High School in June of 1945. She married Kerney Roberie on July 1, 1945. She and Kerney farmed for five years in Grand Prairie. They operated the grocery store across from Grand Prairie High School for fifteen years. They moved to Opelousas in 1969 when Kerney was employed as a custodian in the federal building in Opelousas. In 1975 Eloise was employed by the St. Landry Parish School Board as a special education Teacher's Aide at Grolee Elementary for 26 years until her retirement in 2001. She remarried in 2002 to Marshall Lafleur and moved to Lafayette. She loved clothes shopping with her daughters, reading, doing word search books and embroidering. Eloise will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her current husband of 15 years, Marshall Lafleur; her three children, Carolyn Roberie Bihm and husband, David; Margie Roberie Dupre Soileau and husband, John; Dannie Roberie Ardoin and husband, Cliff; her siblings, Archie Briley, Jimmy Briley, Clyde Briley and Rita (Sis) Briley Soileau; her step-children, Pete Lafleur and wife, Karen; Trena Abranski and husband, Henry; Carlene Carbello and husband, Eddie. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Carla Bihm Leger, Kevin Bihm, Michael Bihm, Scotty Dupre, Shelly Dupre Kidder, Corey Ardoin, Drue Ardoin and Halie Ardoin Duhon; sixteen great-grandchildren, Nicholas Leger, Cody Leger, Jamie Leger, Crystal Bihm, Brandon Bihm, Cameron Bihm, Katie Dupre, Sadie Dupre, Emily Dupre, Landon Kidder, Loghan Kidder, Lane Kidder, Madalyn Ardoin and Lillie, Piper and Liam Duhon; seven great-great grandchildren, Brett, Bailey, Kylie, Nathan, Carson, Victoria and Addison; six step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 53 years, Kerney (Scruby) Roberie; her baby son, Terron; her parents, Cliff Briley and Marceline Trouille Briley; her sisters, Helen Briley, Emma Lou Briley Vidrine and her brother, Anthony Briley.

Pallbearers will be Landon Kidder, Jerry Kidder, Drue Ardoin, Scotty Dupre, Cliff "Brother" Ardoin and Pete Lafleur. Honorary pallbearer will be Corey Ardoin.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
