Effie Morris

Funeral services will be held for Effie Lalonde Morris, age 100, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Burial will be held at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas. Deacon Ulysse Joubert will officiate the service.

Mrs. Morris, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

Effie was a homemaker all her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by son, Charles Morris and wife, Ruby, of Opelousas, LA; her daughters, Betty Morris Watts and husband, Danny, of Natchez, MS and Madeline Morris Savage Lazaro of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Morris, Jr.; her parents, Adam and Onasie Lalonde; her sons, Jack Kenneth Morris, Gary Paul Morris, Eddie Morris; her brothers, Adam Lalonde, Jr., Orford Lalonde, Joshua Lalonde; her sisters, Silvine Lalone Mistric, Ida Lalonde Devillier, Emily Lalonde Speyrer, Noadia Lalonde Calliair, Anna Belle Lalonde Benoit, Loretta Lalonde Marks, Lorena Lalonde Stelly, Armance Lalonde Quibedeaux, Marie Lalonde Meche, her grandchild, Brenda Morris and a son in law Guy Savage, Jr.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday by Deacon Ulysse Joubert. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
