Krotz Springs - Edward Joseph Stelly, age 84, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at his residence in Krotz Springs, Louisiana on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was born on January 7, 1940, in Opelousas, Louisiana, Edward lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a love for his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Edward Stelly on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, La. Father Henry Antony will Celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will be held in the St. Anthony Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Stelly, Logan Briley, Seth Belcher, Michael Doyle, Kalen Stelly and Belton Richard. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Baker.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. by Father Antony.
For over 26 years, Edward served as a maintenance supervisor at Exxon docks, where he was known for his commitment to excellence. Edward was an avid sports fan, particularly fond of cheering on the LSU Tigers. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time outdoors working in his yard, cutting his grass, or picking pecans.
Beyond his professional achievements, one of Edward's proudest accomplishments was his deep faith. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for more than 60 years.
Edward shared a rich and loving life with his wife, Mary Noel Stelly. Together, they enjoyed countless memories, from frequenting local casinos during the Christmas season to camping trips.
Edward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Noel Stelly; his sons, Kenneth Stelly; Michael Stelly and his wife, Cindy; and David Stelly and his wife, Charlotte. He is also survived by his daughter, Becky Stelly Baker and her husband, Roger, as well as his sister, Bessie Bourdier. The legacy of his love continues through his 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Edward now joins his parents, Mitchell and Lelia Stelly, his half-brothers, Joseph D. Hooks and Bud Hooks, as well as his grandson, Logan Stelly, and great-grandchildren, Dillan Stelly and Addyson Stelly, in eternal rest.
Edward will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family and his kind-hearted nature. His legacy will live in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
