Edward Langlois was 90 years old when he passed away on July 5, 2021, at Senior Village.
Born into a large family in New Roads, La., Ed led a life rich in varied experiences. In later life, he enjoyed recounting these experiences, as well as the Langlois and Morel family histories, to his many nieces and nephews.
Ed had many childhood adventures growing up on the Major Brothers’ Poydras Plantation near New Roads. After graduating from Poydras High School, he enlisted in the National Guard. His service fulfilled, Ed completed a degree at LSU. He then began a long career with the Louisiana Department of Family Services. After he and Nelma retired, they spent much of their time traveling. Sadly, Nelma passed away three months ago. A devoted couple, they would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary in August.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Nelma Smith Langlois; his parents George and Nita Morel Langlois; four sisters, Nita Mayeaux, Eloise Ducote, Melba Bordelon, and Sidonia Langlois; and five brothers, George, Percy, Lynn, Curt, and John Langlois. Ed is survived by a sister, Nellie Langlois Hurst, a brother, Albin (Buck) Langlois, a brother-in-law, Darrel Smith, a sister-in-law, Deann Hunt, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.lafondardoin.com.
