Edmonia White

Opelousas-Funeral services for Edmonia White Guillory, age 85, will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawtell, La.

Edmonia Toot White Guillory was born on October 17, 1922 in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, to Sylvester and Josephine Dargin White. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Edmonia worked at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Houston, Texas where her and her husband Vincent lived for 35 years. Edmonia and Vincent were married 50 years before he passed away on August 22, 1988. Edmonia then moved back to Opelousas, La.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Lorena White Eaglin; one brother, Lee Willis White and his wife, Rita; two sisters-in-law, Mercedes Guillory Landry and Evelyn Perrodin White all of Opelousas, La. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent Guillory; her parents, Sylvester and Josephine Dargin White; one brother, Phillip White and one sister, Mary Hilda White.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas on Friday, July 4, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, until time of service. A rosary will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
