Edith Wyble Roy

Opelousas- Funeral services for Edith Wyble Roy, 90, will be held at 11am on January 21, 2008, at the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Robert Romero will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mrs. Roy, who was a native of Pitreville and former resident of Opelousas, died at 3:15p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Bethany M.H.S. Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Survivors include her sons, Aaron Roy and wife Linda of Baton Rouge and Charles Roy and wife Delores of Lafayette; daughter, Verna Ohlmeyer and husband Sterling of Metairie; a sister, Mamie OBrien of Eunice; 7 grandchildren, Karen Ohlmeyer Johnson, Stephanie Roy, Bret Roy, Allison Roy Sanchez, Douglas Roy, Melynda Roy Boothe, and Michael Roy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner Roy, Jr.; parents, John Andre Wyble and Adele Bellard Wyble; 4 brother, Stanislaus, Austin, John, and Willie Wyble; 3 sisters, Yola Miller, Lorraine Young, and Lula Brasseaux.

Pallbearers will be Bret Roy, Douglas Roy, Blanchard Sanchez, Michael Roy, Thomas Boothe, and John Johnson.

Visiting will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, January 20, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 pm and will re-open at 9:00a.m. on Monday until service time. A rosary service will be held at 6:30p.m. on Sunday.

The family would like to thank the following caregivers for the love and care given to Mrs. Roy: Rosewood Retirement Center, Hospice of Acadiana, Bethany M.H.S. Nursing Home, LHC Groups Doctors and Staff, and Dr. S.R. Kothapailla and staff.
